Get found where you actually work in Kent

Before you pay for more leads or advertising, find out whether the website you already own could be doing more.

I help builders, roofers, plumbers, electricians, landscapers and other trades across Kent get found by the people already searching for them. It's all done remotely.

Kent is too big to cover with one line saying “we cover Kent”. Your website needs to say where you really work.

I'll check what Google, Bing and AI tools can find on your website and tell you the 2–3 things I'd fix first.

The check is free. If I find something worth fixing, I'll include what it would cost with your results.

How people in Kent look for a trade

From the London edge to the Thanet coast, Kent is several places at once.

  • roofer Maidstone
  • builder Sevenoaks
  • plumber Canterbury
  • electrician Chatham

Real searches look like these. Your website needs to give Google and AI tools something to match them to.

West Kent is almost London

Dartford, Swanley and Sevenoaks sit right on the London edge, and plenty of trades there also work in Bromley and Bexley. If you do, your website should say so by name.

Medway is its own place

Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham and Strood have their own council and are searched as their own places. “Kent” alone won't catch them.

East Kent and the coast

Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate, Ramsgate, Folkestone and Dover are all searched separately. If you cover the coast, name the towns you actually go to.

Oast houses and weatherboarding

Across the Weald and the villages, a lot of homes are old, timber-framed or converted. People with those homes look for someone who knows them, so show it if that's you.

A trade business I built from nothing

It relied on word of mouth and had no real online presence. I built all of it myself: the website, the service and area pages, a large library of helpful guides, the technical setup and the routes to an enquiry.

It now gets consistent enquiries without paying for advertising.

What I look at for Kent trades

Where your website says you work

Whether it names the towns you really cover, and doesn’t pull in enquiries from the far end of the county.

One page per area worth having

Which areas deserve their own page or section, and which are fine as a list, so you don’t end up with thin copy-and-paste pages.

Google Business Profile

Whether your profile’s service area, categories and details match your website.

Service pages

One clear page for each job you want more of, instead of a single list of everything you do.

Indexing on Google and Bing

Whether the pages that matter are actually in Google and Bing. ChatGPT, for example, uses Bing.

Enquiries that reach you

Whether calling, emailing or asking for a quote is easy on a phone, and whether messages arrive.

You probably don't need a new website

Most of what holds a website back can be fixed on the one you have. I'll tell you the 2–3 things that matter most. If they're worth fixing, I'll say what it would cost. You decide.

Website Clarity is just me, so I only take on a couple of implementation projects at a time.

Three things to check on your website this week

List where you want work

Write down the five towns you most want jobs in. Then check whether each one is actually named on your website. Often only one or two are.

Check what Google has

Search “site:yourwebsite.co.uk” on Google. It lists the pages Google knows about. If an important page is missing, that’s worth knowing.

Try calling from your website

On your phone, tap your number on your own website. Does it dial? If it doesn’t, some people will give up rather than type it.

Check your website

If you're not sure whether your website is actually helping bring in work, I'll take a look.

This isn't an instant automated score. I'll run the checks, review what comes back and send you the 2–3 things I'd tackle first. Usually within 2–3 working days.

Questions from Kent trades

Kent is huge. How do I show where I work without dozens of pages?

Give your main areas a page or section each, and list the other towns you cover on those pages. A few good pages beat lots of copy-and-paste ones.

I'll tell you which areas are worth a page.

I’m in Dartford and work in south-east London too. What should my website say?

Name both. People search for the places they live, whether that’s Dartford, Bexleyheath or Bromley.

Your Google Business Profile service area should match.

Is Medway part of Kent for my website?

For your customers, Medway is Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham. Use those names if you work there.

It's the names people type that matter, not the council.

How long does the free check take?

Usually 2–3 working days. I check every website myself, so it isn't instant, but you get findings you can actually use.

If there's something worth fixing, I'll include what it would cost.
