What I collect, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.
Last updated 28 September 2026
The short version
I collect as little as I need, use it only to reply to you and do the work you ask for, never sell it, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
What's collected, and why
- Free website check and contact forms: your name, email address, website and anything you write in the message. Used to do the check and reply to you.
- Emails: if you email me, I keep the conversation so I can reply and keep track of any work.
- Paid work: the details needed to quote, do the work and invoice.
- Website visits: if you accept the optional analytics cookie, anonymous information about which pages are visited. If you don't, no analytics cookie is set.
Businesses I contact first
I sometimes email businesses whose websites I think I could help, using business contact details they publish themselves (on their website, Companies House or business directories). I only email companies this way, include a way to say no in every email, and never contact anyone again once they've asked me not to. This is done under legitimate interests.
Who helps me run things
- Google Workspace (email)
- Resend (sends the form emails)
- Vercel (hosts the website)
- Google Sheets (keeps track of enquiries and contacts)
- Google Analytics (only if you accept the cookie)
Each only handles data to provide their service.
How long it's kept
Enquiries that don't go anywhere are deleted within 12 months. Records of paid work are kept for six years, because tax rules require it.
Your rights
You can ask to see what I hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how it's used. Email hello@websiteclarity.co.uk and I'll deal with it within a month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Questions about any of this: hello@websiteclarity.co.uk.
