Website Clarity

Services and prices

Tell me what's not working. I'll work out what the job is.

You don't need to know whether you need SEO, a new page, some technical work or something else. Tell me what isn't working, taking too long, or sitting on your list. I'll look at what you've already got, work out what's worth doing and give you a fixed price before I start.

Some jobs are small and self-contained. Others involve several things that make more sense dealt with together. If I need to look at your existing setup before I can price something, I'll say so. When I give you the price, I'll also tell you when I can start and when I expect the work to be finished.

Where most people start

How much does a website audit cost? £150.

If you know something isn't right but don't know where the problem is, this is where I'd start. My system does an initial pass and then I investigate the findings myself.

I look at the website, Google and Maps, Bing, how understandable the business is to search and AI tools, content, tracking, the experience on a phone, the enquiry journey and relevant competitors.

What you get

  • Findings prioritised as do first, do later or leave alone
  • What I'd change, why, and in what order
  • Yours to use: do it yourself, hand it to someone else, or ask me for a fixed price
  • Commission £500 or more of the recommended work and the £150 comes off the bill

Getting found

Why does my competitor come up and I don't?

That can include Google Search, Google Maps, Bing, and how clearly your website explains your business to search engines and AI tools.

Google Business Profile £150

Setting up or sorting out your Google Business Profile so the basic information is accurate and useful: your details, categories, services, description and the other things customers see when they find you locally.

A Google or Bing visibility problem from £195

For a specific problem: pages not appearing, the wrong pages showing, obvious indexing issues, or a business that isn't being found where you'd expect it to be. I investigate what's happening and agree the work with you before making changes.

Search and AI visibility from £750

For businesses that need more than one isolated fix. I look at what you offer, where you work, what potential customers search and ask about, what your website currently tells search engines and AI systems, and where useful information is missing. The work might involve site structure, service and location information, technical search issues, existing pages and new content.

I record where things stand before making changes and look at the available search and AI evidence again after six weeks. There are no guaranteed rankings or AI recommendations. The work is about giving your business a much better chance of being understood and found.

Venues have their own version of this, with capacity, event types and booker questions built in. See the venue page.

Useful content

What should actually be on my website?

A useful page can answer something customers keep asking, explain a cost or a decision, help somebody choose between options, and give search engines and AI systems something solid to read about your business.

Researched website page from £150

For a straightforward page where the information and research are fairly contained. Written in your voice, not padded out to hit a word count.

More substantial researched guide £195 to £250+

For subjects that need more investigation, comparison, calculations or source checking: what something costs and what changes the price, how long it takes, what's included, how different options compare, or what somebody should know before getting in touch.

Product and catalogue content from £150

Descriptions written properly, in batches, for people first and search second. Priced by how many and how much information you can give me to work from.

Fixing and improving

Do I need a whole new website?

Usually not. Something being broken, slow or awkward is normally a contained job, and a rebuild is the expensive way to fix a page that needs an hour's work. If a rebuild genuinely is the answer, I'll say so and price it properly.

Small website fix from £120

A contained problem or change: something broken, information that needs updating, a page that needs sorting out, a contact route that isn't doing what it should.

Contact, phone and WhatsApp improvements from £120

Making it easy for somebody who has already decided to contact you to actually do it, on the phone in their hand.

Simple enquiry or quote form £150

A straightforward form that collects the information you actually need and sends it where it needs to go.

More involved forms from £195

For forms with more questions, conditional sections, calculations, routing, or file and photo uploads.

Booking or appointment setup from £150

So people can book a slot themselves instead of ringing. What it costs depends on how many people or spaces are being booked, whether it needs to talk to your calendar and your website, and what should happen after somebody books.

Tracking setup £150

Useful measurement so you can see what people are actually doing rather than guessing. What's appropriate depends on the website and what you need to know.

Move your website into your own control from £195

Domain, hosting and email in your name rather than a previous web designer's, with the logins handed to you.

Several connected problems £350 to £750

If there are a number of things that need sorting, I'll usually price them together rather than turning every change into a separate little job.

Getting a new business online from £350

Domain, business email, a single clear page and a Google listing, ready within three working days of my having what I need from you. For when you're starting out and need to exist online before you need anything clever.

A new website quoted individually

I build new websites where that's genuinely the sensible answer. I'll want to understand the business, the content, what it needs to do and what you already have before putting a price on it.

And the other online jobs…

Who do I ask to sort this out?

Enquiry lands, someone is told £150

An enquiry arrives, the right person is notified straight away, and the customer gets a sensible acknowledgement instead of silence.

Reminder or follow-up automation from £150

For the repetitive follow-ups that shouldn't depend on somebody remembering: appointment reminders, a nudge on a quote that's gone quiet, a message after the job.

Email list, platform and templates £195

The basic system in place, imported properly, with a template you can actually use, so sending something useful to your customers takes minutes.

Simple tracker £195

A straightforward way of keeping track of enquiries, jobs or another process that currently lives across emails, notes and three spreadsheets. Includes profit trackers built from your own exports.

Product uploads and bulk changes from £150

Where a number of products need adding, or prices and information need changing across a catalogue, rather than one item at a time.

Something else ask me

If it involves your website, your online information, forms, data or a repetitive online process, tell me what you're trying to get done. If I can sensibly do it, you'll get a price. If it needs something different, I'll tell you before you spend any money.

How pricing works

You'll know the price before I start.

One number, in writing, before any work begins. It doesn't change afterwards, and nothing extra happens until you've said yes to it and to what it costs.

There's no automatic monthly package and no lock-in. If I look at something and think it can wait, or isn't worth paying me to change, I'll tell you that instead of quoting for it.

Further work after a job is finished is a separate quote, not an assumption.

What I need from you

Usually, just tell me what's happening.

I may need temporary access to your website or another account to investigate or do the work. I prefer collaborator or delegated access where it's available, and your website, accounts and subscriptions stay in your name.

For significant changes I check the existing setup and the available backup or version history before I start. If I come across something outside the agreed work, I won't quietly add it to the bill. I'll tell you what I've found and you decide whether you want anything done about it.

Paying for it

The £150 audit and smaller jobs are normally paid before I start. Larger work is split between booking and completion. Any third-party costs, such as a domain or a subscription, are agreed separately and, where possible, paid by you directly so they stay in your name.

Fitting you in

I keep to a small number of jobs at a time. When I quote, I'll tell you when I can start and when I expect to be finished. If I can't fit you in soon, I'll say so rather than let it drift.

Questions people ask

Before you get in touch.

Do I need to know what's wrong before I contact you?

No. Tell me what isn't working, taking too long or sitting on your list. I'll look at what you already have, work out what's worth doing and give you a fixed price before I start.

Who owns the website and the accounts?

You do. Your website, accounts and subscriptions stay in your name. When a job ends you get the finished work, the logins and a short note on what was done.

Do you need my passwords?

No. I prefer collaborator or delegated access where it's available, given for the job and removed afterwards. Anything that needs your card or ID is done on a call with you typing.

Which platforms do you work on?

Mainly WordPress, Shopify and custom-built sites. Other platforms are checked before I quote, because some of them limit what can actually be done. If your platform can't support the work, I'll tell you before you spend anything.

How much does it cost to fix a website?

Most single fixes are £120 to £250, depending on what's wrong and what the site is built on. If there are several things to sort, I'll usually price them together at £350 to £750 rather than turning each change into its own little job.

How long will it take?

It depends on the job and on what else I have on. When I give you the price, I'll tell you when I can start and when I expect to be finished, and I'll keep to it. I take a small number of jobs at a time so that stays true.

Do you work with businesses outside Hampshire?

Yes. I'm in Hampshire and work with businesses across the UK. Almost all of it is done by email with the occasional call, whichever suits you.

How does payment work?

The £150 audit and smaller jobs are normally paid before I start. Larger work is split between booking and completion. Any third-party costs are agreed separately and, where possible, paid by you directly.

Can you guarantee I'll rank on Google or be recommended by AI tools?

No, and nobody honestly can. The work gives your business a much better chance of being understood and found. For larger visibility work I record where things stand before any changes and look at the evidence again after six weeks, so you can see what actually moved.

What happens if you find something outside the agreed work?

I won't quietly add it to the bill. I'll tell you what I've found and you decide whether you want me to do anything about it.

Something online not doing what it should?

Tell me what's happening. You don't have to work out which service you need first. I reply within a working day.
