Website Clarity

What does website work cost?

I price website work according to what actually needs doing rather than putting every business into the same package.

But you should still have an idea of cost before getting in touch. The prices below give you a guide to the scale of different types of work — from a focused website or SEO fix through to larger projects and complete website builds.

I check the website first. If I find something worth fixing, I'll explain what I'd recommend and include what it would cost with your results.

Website work from around £150

£150–£300

Focused website work

For a defined problem or improvement with a clear scope.

Depending on what I find, this could include:

  • resolving a specific technical or SEO problem
  • improving an important existing page
  • fixing an indexing or search visibility issue
  • improving part of the website structure
  • improving internal linking
  • fixing an enquiry or form problem
  • improving search information or website setup
  • implementing a focused website improvement

A focused job doesn't necessarily mean an unimportant one. Sometimes one particular problem is the thing most worth fixing.

£300–£750

More substantial website work

For work involving more research, content, development or several connected improvements.

This could include:

  • researching, writing and building new pages
  • service pages
  • event or offering pages
  • location pages
  • useful guides and researched content
  • improving several existing pages
  • restructuring part of a website
  • technical SEO improvements
  • Google and Bing search improvements
  • improving enquiry journeys or forms
  • several related website problems dealt with together

The scope depends on what the website already has and what needs to change.

£750+

Larger website projects

For more extensive work involving several parts of the website.

That could include:

  • substantial website restructuring
  • multiple new service, event or location pages
  • larger researched content projects
  • technical improvements across the website
  • Google, Bing and AI search improvements
  • significant internal linking and site architecture work
  • custom website functionality
  • booking or appointment systems
  • more advanced enquiry or quote forms
  • an AI website assistant using your own business information
  • a combination of technical, structural, content and enquiry improvements

Larger projects are scoped around the work required rather than squeezed into a standard package.

Complete website builds

Individually quoted

Sometimes the website you already have can be improved. Sometimes the existing website, structure or platform has become the limitation and a new website genuinely makes more sense.

I can build the complete website rather than simply identifying what needs to change. Depending on the business, that can include:

  • website structure and development
  • service, event and location pages
  • research and writing
  • useful guides and supporting content
  • internal linking
  • technical SEO
  • Google and Bing search foundations
  • AI accessibility and clear business information
  • structured data where appropriate
  • enquiry and quote forms
  • WhatsApp
  • booking and appointment calendars
  • an AI website assistant using your own business information
  • analytics and tracking
  • redirects and migration from an existing website

Complete websites are individually quoted because the amount of research, content, development and functionality can vary considerably.

If improving your existing website makes more sense, that's what I'll recommend.

What affects the price?

The main difference between a £200 job and a £2,000 project is the amount and complexity of the work involved.

For example, creating a new page can involve research, writing, development, search setup, internal linking and connecting it to the rest of the website.

Technical work can require investigation before the underlying problem becomes clear.

A booking system, tailored enquiry process or AI website assistant can involve more development than a straightforward website change.

And sometimes several problems are connected, making it more sensible to deal with them together.

That's why I use the website check to understand what's actually needed before giving you a fixed price.

What if my website limits what can be changed?

The platform your website uses can affect what's possible.

WordPress, custom-built websites and other setups that provide suitable access can usually support a wide range of technical, structural and development changes.

Some managed website builders and hosting arrangements provide less control. That can limit technical SEO work, website structure or custom functionality.

I'll take the existing setup into account when I check the website. If something I'd normally recommend isn't realistically possible on your current platform, I'll tell you.

If the platform itself has become the problem, we can look at whether improving, moving or rebuilding the website makes more sense.

Do I own my website?

What about regular website work?

Most work can be handled as a defined one-off project. There's no requirement to sign up for ongoing SEO or website work.

But if we've worked together and you'd like me to continue developing the website regularly, we can look at that too. That might include:

  • new pages as the business develops
  • researched guides and useful content
  • technical improvements
  • Google, Bing and AI search work
  • ongoing website improvements
  • new functionality
  • changes to existing services, locations or information

Any ongoing arrangement would be based on what the website and business actually need rather than a standard monthly package.

Questions about website prices

Are these fixed prices?

No. They're indicative ranges to show the general scale of different types of website work. I'll give you a fixed price for the specific work I recommend before anything paid starts.

Do I have to buy an SEO package?

No. I can deal with a particular problem, undertake a larger project or build a complete website depending on what's actually needed.

Can you work with my existing website?

In many cases, yes. I'll take the website, platform and available access into account before recommending work.

Can you build a new website if I need one?

Yes. I can take on complete website builds where replacing the existing site genuinely makes more sense than continuing to work around its limitations.

Do I have to pay monthly?

No. One-off work is fine. If you later want regular help developing the website, we can look at that separately.
